GGJ: Lost and Found

About the Project

Lost and Found was created in 48 hours as part of the Australian Global Game Jam (GGJ), This years theme was Lost and Found. I teamed up with a fellow colleague and good mate from AIE, Josh Motem as a programmer for the project.

My core responsibilities were Level Design, a little bit of Technical Design, NPC / 3D Prop Artwork and Environmental SFX.

After several minutes of brain storming potential ideas, we settled on the idea of a literal Lost And Found booth with Papers, Please inspired gameplay.

The premise of the game was that the player is volunteering at a lost and found booth for a local hospital, where patients would consecutively approach the player for their lost belongings, and the player would scrounge through their box in search of the desired item.

Our vision for the game was rather overly ambitious, as we originally planned unique NPC encounters and reoccurring NPC's that had mini story lines, much like Papers, Please.

But with so little time we were only able to build the core mechanics of the game. Despite the game being so short and so simple we were happy that we were able to mostly produced what we planned, and had a unique aesthetic that stood out amongst the sea of other Game Jam submissions.
