3d Artwork

The first course I ever attended at AIE was a certificate III in Game art and Animation.

I got to learn the fundamentals and basics of Autodesk Maya, animation principles, minor rigging and colour theory. It was a really great experience and I got a lot of insight into the industry and pipelines which was crucial going into my Game Design course.

TAVERN

One of my assessments in the course was to build an environment to render in Unreal Engine 4 from scratch. After brainstorming some potential ideas I decided to settle with a Tavern environment.

I wanted to create an environment that felt comfortable and relaxing while also feeling occupied with assets.

I wished we were taught more on how to use some advanced software's such as Substance Painter or 3D Coat for better detail in the Assets.

Because of this I had to resort to texturing and generating normal maps in Photoshop which didn't produce ideal results unfortunately.

DELTA

Delta was done for my Game Mechanics assessment. I had to put everything I learnt from the Game Art Course into one game in Unreal Engine. I was tasked of implementing a fully rigged, textured and animated character, building an environment from scratch and finally adding game mechanics using Unreal's Blueprint system.

I took a more simple low poly approach for a retro style feel so I could focus more on the gameplay scripting.
I wish I challenged myself more on the art side of things because my assets ended up far too simple and the environment being really cold and not nearly as detailed as the other projects in my class.
